the model of redemption.
you come out of it but you fall back in.
fight for joy; the light at the end of the tunnel will grow bigger and brighter.
His light shines brightest in the darkness.
the model of redemption.
you come out of it but you fall back in.
fight for joy; the light at the end of the tunnel will grow bigger and brighter.
His light shines brightest in the darkness.
(I only wanted cheesecake.)
1: how are you doing?
2: pretty good, thanks, how are you.
1: good. really enjoyed your music at retreat this year.
2: oh thanks; I had a good team with me.
1: do you ever have a moment of peace when you’re on stage?
(takes a moment to respond)
2: yes. all the time.
1: don’t you find it hard to focus with all instruments and sounds going on behind and around you?
2: its something that develops over time; I think its all a matter of having faith in Him and in the rest of your team, that they would be sensitive to the Presence in the room and work together accordingly.
1: its a bonding thing.
2: you could look at it that way. playing in a band brings people closer together.
1: and what better way to come together than for Christ.
2: exactly.
1: its almost like a form of corporate sacrifice.
2: I suppose so. a leader should have faith in the rest of their team… that they’ll know when to adjust their dynamics accordingly with the Spirit’s movement and not go onto their own thing.
1: I can imagine working with a brand new team then…
2: its a challenge; but we’re all willing to meet it. its where maturity plays in.
(moment of silence)
2: a lot of people dont realize that a lot more than just ‘worship’ happens with the band on stage.
1: in what sense?
2: there’s something really… abstract. and mystical* about making music with others.
1: explain.
2: its like giving and taking. there’s periods in the course of the song where I may want to let my singer take the lead; I back off, and she comes to the forefront of the sound spectrum.
1: interesting.
2: Same thing with the lead guitar. we can sense a point in a song when a lead line would complement the overall mood; so I fall back to playing the rhythm parts while my lead takes the higher register.
(contemplation)
1: two things happening at once.
2: and its all happening together.
1: beautiful.
2: He is, isn’t he.

Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear.
